Planning a children’s party can be both an exciting and daunting task. From invites to décor, there’s a lot to consider—but one aspect that can really set your event apart is the party favors.

Rather than opting for generic store-bought items, why not add a personal touch with DIY party favor ideas for kids?

This blog post will explore why DIY party favors are worth the effort and how they can make your child’s celebration even more special.

Personal Touch

One of the best things about DIY party favors is the personal touch they bring.

When you create something yourself, you infuse it with love and care, turning simple items into cherished mementos.

Kids and parents alike will appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness behind handmade favors.

Cost-Effective

Store-bought party favors can add up quickly, especially if you’re inviting a large group of kids.

DIY projects often use materials you already have at home or can source cheaply, making them a budget-friendly option.

Plus, you can tailor each favor to suit the interests and preferences of your guests, adding value without breaking the bank.

Creative Expression

DIY party favors are an excellent outlet for creativity.

Whether you’re a crafting expert or a beginner, there are endless possibilities to explore.

From personalized bookmarks and custom bracelets to homemade slime and decorated cookies, the sky’s the limit!

This is also a fantastic opportunity to involve your kids in the planning process, making it a fun bonding activity.

Eco-Friendly

In today’s world, we’re all more conscious of our environmental footprint.

DIY party favors often involve upcycling materials, which means you’re not only saving money but also reducing waste.

Using recyclable or biodegradable materials can make your party planning more sustainable and eco-friendly.

Quick and Easy DIY Party Favor Ideas

Personalized Bookmarks

Materials needed:

  • Cardstock
  • Markers or colored pens
  • Ribbon
  • Stickers or stamps

Instructions:

  1. Cut the cardstock into bookmark-sized strips.
  2. Have your child decorate each strip with markers, stickers, and stamps.
  3. Punch a hole at the top and thread a piece of ribbon through it.
  4. Write each guest’s name on their bookmark for a personalized touch.

Custom Bracelets

Materials needed:

  • Elastic string
  • Beads
  • Letter beads (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Measure and cut the elastic string to fit around a child’s wrist.
  2. Have your child string the beads onto the elastic, using letter beads to spell out each guest’s name or fun words like “FUN” or “PARTY.”
  3. Tie the ends of the elastic string securely and trim any excess.

Homemade Slime

Materials needed:

  • White glue
  • Baking soda
  • Contact lens solution
  • Food coloring
  • Small containers

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix 4 ounces of glue with a few drops of food coloring.
  2. Add ½ teaspoon of baking soda and mix well.
  3. Slowly add 1½ tablespoons of contact lens solution, stirring continuously until the slime begins to form.
  4. Knead the slime until it reaches the desired consistency.
  5. Divide the slime into small containers for each guest.

Decorated Cookies

Materials needed:

  • Sugar cookie dough
  • Cookie cutters
  • Icing
  • Sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Roll out the sugar cookie dough and use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes.
  2. Bake the cookies according to the recipe instructions and allow them to cool completely.
  3. Set up a decorating station with icing and sprinkles, and have your child decorate each cookie.
  4. Package the cookies in small bags or boxes for each guest to take home.
